Shepherds Bush - Martin - 4th Dec 2008 - Blah! Blah! Blah!

The diners met in Shepherds Bush, home of the new Westfield shopping centre. But, eschewing the allure of enough restaurants to keep dinner club occupied for several years, the diners did not take a second glance at that cathedral of capitalism. Instead they went west to worship at the grittier end of the green.

After pre-dinner drinks at the Stinging Nettle (the Bush Bar having fallen prey to the financial apocalypse), the diners headed further down Goldhawk Road to the offbeat vegetarian BYO cash-only Blah! Blah! Blah!

Cuisine: vegetarian
Price: 81 including service and corkage, plus two bottles of red brought with us

This represents the end of Dinner Club Round 1, and as such your up-to-date scores and reviews are critical..

As always, some photos of the evening:

Finally, I thought fellow diners might be interested to know that that the vicious rumours circulating in Brook Green about über-epicerie Betty Blythe have been robustly denied by the establishment...

Old Street - Beth - 30th Oct 2008 - Cay Tre

The diners met at Bar Music Hall on Curtain Road for an aperitif among the Shoreditch/Hoxton set, narrowly missing out on a fashion party in American Apparel and a book launch at BMH itself. Assembled, and with whistles wet, the club made its way through the bitter cold to Cay Tre on Old Street, stalwart of Hoxton's Little Hanoi.

Cuisine: Vietnamese
Price: 77 quid including 4 beers

Farringdon - Nicky - 2nd Oct 2008 - Little Bay

The diners met in Bar Kick near Exmouth Market for a pre-dinner drink. It's scruffy, raucous and Latin. Great front doors and surprisingly popular table football..

Anyone who is currently spying on the dinner club might have expected us to dash across the road from Bar Kick and into Moro. But we fooled them by going round the corner to small-chain how-do-they-do-it-for-the-money Little Bay!

Cuisine: expected Italian but it was really everywhere
Price: 90 quid for 4 with bottle of wine

Please add your thoughtful comments and precise scores...

Where next fellow diners?

So I think we should head to Battersea or Faringdon and try this cheap eat?

Vauxhall - Tim - 28 Sept 2008 - Dinner Club Launched!

Last night the dinner club met for the first time. The venue was chosen by Tim, and was a Portugese restaurant in Vauxhall. Name and exact address unknown.

I suggest blogging as a way to track details and scores.

Add your comments for things like:
- what was eaten
- whether it was good
- restaurant ambience/decor/fellow diners
- service and staff
- local area
- price
- and of course, most importantly, the SCORES

Have fun!
